HIP PROBLEMS

How is the hip designed and what is its function?
The hip joint is a true ball and socket joint. This arrangement gives the hip a large amount of motion needed for daily activities like walking, standing, running and stair climbing.
The hip is complex with a design that provides a good amount of stability. It allows good mobility and range of motion for doing a wide range of daily activities. Many powerful muscles connect to and cross by the hip joint, making it possible for us to accelerate quickly during actions such as running and jumping.
The hip provides such complex stability that, when injured or misaligned, it can have a devastating effect on balance and mobility. It can produce aches and pains in the lower back, buttock, thigh, groin or knee joint.
Over half of all clients contacting the Wolff Clinic suffer from this problem.
Also a main reason for general lower back pains.
Some of the more common causes of hip problems include:
-
hip joint misalignment
-
repetitive strain injury
-
presence of lumbar spinal joint restrictions
-

Treatments
The Wolff Clinic treatment for hip problems incorporates the use of many therapies (i.e.: Neuro Muscular Strength Testing, NMST), all of which are gentle, safe, natural and non invasive. in most cases however, the chiropractor will use an adjustment to correct spinal restrictions or joint misallingments. An adjustment involves the gentle and specific application of a force to the joint or spine in order to allow the body to restore normal joint and nervous system function. This is pain FREE. Management of the condition may involve specific advice on exercise and rehabilitative measures as well as lifestyle and nutritional counceling.
